“MIXED PROGRESSIVENESS”

AS I LISTENED TO THE MOST RECENT RELEASE OF THE MUSIC GROUP OF RICK COLE & PAUL BARRERE CALLED “LOST IN THE SOUND AS I LISTENED TO THE FIRST TRACK I HEARD A SOUND OF AN ALMOST 60ISH PROGRESSIVE ROCK WITH THE SONG CALLED “IN MY PRISION” AN ALMOST PINK FLOYDISH KIND OF WAY. THE MUSIC CARRIES ITSELF AND HAD ELEMENTS OF THAT SOUND. AS THE SECOND CUT CAME ON CALLED “SEND IN THE CANARY” IT WAS A FAST PACED SONG THAT HAD A LITTLE ANGST AND A LITTLE PUNKISH BUT REMAINED A RELEVENT PART OF THIS ECLECTIC ALBUM OF SORTS. THE GUITARS AND THE SOUND HAS A HAUNTING FLAVOR TO IT. AS I LISTENED THE NEXT TRACK CALLED “LOST IN THE SOUND” THE ALBUM REGAINED IT’S MUSICAL COMPOSURE & BROUGHT IN THE PROGRESSIVE SOUND, AND SEEMED TO BE A MELODIC AND ALMOST DARK ELEMENT THAT IS COMPARED TO THE PROGRESSIVE MUSIC GROUPS OF YESTERYEAR. “LET IT GO” IS ANOTHER DARK BUT MELODIC SONG THAT CONTINUES WITH THAT PROGRESSIVE AND ALMOST PSYCHEDELIC MOVEMENT THROUGHOUT THE ALBUM. WITH THE NEXTSONG CALLED “ALL THAT I NEED” HAS A MIX OF RTHTHMIC BEATS AND AT TIMES PAULS VOCALS REMINDED OF ZZ TOP. AS I DOVE FURTHER INTO THIS ALBUM WITH THE SONG “FINAL CURTAIN” THE SOUND CONTINUED TO BE AN ALMOST TRIBAL BEAT BUT CONTINUED WITH THAT LATE SIXTIES FLAVOR OF ACID AND PSYCHEDELIC AND AT TIMES BROUGHT MY EARS BENDING TOWARDS THAT ERA OF MUSIC. “GRAIN OF SAND” THE ELEMENT OF ACOUSTIC WAS INTRODUCED INTO THE SONG, WHERE PAUL AND ROGER MAKE THAT SOUND OF THE SEVENTIES VINTAGE ROCK BANDS OF THAT DECADE AND HEARD HINTS OF THE BAND TRAFFIC AT TIMES ON THIS PARTICULAR SONG. THE NEXT SONG CALLED “POILITICAL FREAK SHOW” PAUL & ROGER HAVE A SOUND THAT IS A MATURE APPROACH AND THE LYRICS SHARE THAT MATURITY WITH SOME REAL GUITAR IN THE MIX AND WAS ENJOYABLE AS I LISTENED. “INDIFFERENCE” HAS THAT SOUND THAT SHARES THE PROGRESSIVE SOUND THAT THE ALBUM SEEMS TO SHARE CONSITENTLY THROUGHOUT. WITH THE CONSISTENT THEME AND MELODIC AND PROGRESSIVE SOUNDS I HEARD ON THIS ALBUM IT JUST KEPT MY MUSICAL EARS TAINTED ALL THE WAY THROUGH. THE LAST SONG CALED “YOUR ANNOYING” THIS SONG REALLY DOESN’T FOLLOW THE REST OF THE ALBUM AND FELT AS IT WAS JUST ADDED IN FOR FLAVOR. AS I WRITER AND MUSIC REVIEWER OF ALL GENRES AND ALL SORTS OF MUSIC IN THE MUSICAL SPECTRUM THE BAND OF ROGER COLE &  PAUL BARRERE ADD TO MY REPOITRE OF SOLID SOUNDING MUSICAL ARTISTS. I THANK THEM FOR ALLOWING ME TO HEAR THEIR TALENT AND WOULD LOVE TO HEAR MORE FROM THEM IN THEIR FUTURE.

“FOREVERLY …..SMOOTH”

WELL I MUST SAY THAT AFTER AND AS I WAS LISTENING TO THE NEW ALBUM FROM MUSIC ARTIST JEFF BRISBIN, CALLED “FOREVERLY” I WAS TAKEN BACK A FEW STEPS. I WAS SO IMPRESSED, JEFF HAS GOT A TREMENDOUS AND AWESOME SOUND THAT IS ALL HIS OWN. THROUGHOUT THIS MARVELOUS ALBUM FROM START TO FINISH JEFF HAS THAT ABILITY TO TRANSFORM SUCH A SIMPLE SONG AND MAKE IT SOUND SO SWELL. THE FIRST SONG CALLED”ALL THE KINGS HORSES” IS SIMPLY PUT A POEM BUT, PUT TO MUSIC BY JEFF AND MAKES A SOUND THAT REALLY CAN’T COMPARE TO ANY MUSIC ARTIST IN MY MEMORY,  JEFF HAS A REALLY GREAT SOUND AND I REALLY ENJOYED IT. THE NEXT SONG CALLED “FORVERLY” WHERE I FEEL THIS IS ALREADY A HIT SONG AND NEEDS TO BE HEARD ON THE RADIO. JEFF THROUGHOUT THIS WONDERFUL SMOOTHLY  POLISHED ALBUM JEFF JUST HITS THE SOUL JUST RIGHT. “FACE MY FEAR” JEFF AND HIS PHENOMENAL CAST OF HIS BAND MAKE A SOUND THAT IS JUST GOOD SOLID MUSIC. AND IS VERY CONTAGIOUS ON ALL SONGS ON THIS TRUE ENRICHING ALBUM. “LOVE” IS THE NEXT SONGS NAME AND ONCE AGAIN JEFF & HIS BAND JUST CONTINUE TO AMAZE ME. I THOUGHT AS I LISTENED TO THIS ALBUM, WHY ISN’T THIS GUY ON THE RADIO, HIS VOICE AT TIMES IS A LITTLE REMEINCENT OF RANDY NEWMAN, BUT ONCE AGAIN JEFF HAS HIS OWN STYLE AND WITH HIS GIFT OF GOOD LYRICAL CONTENT OUTLINE EACH SONG AND MAKE THEM VERY UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL. I’M NOT SURE WHERE TO PLACE JEFF AND HIS STYLE BUT THIS ALBUM IS A VERY STRONG AND VIBRANT AND JEFF SHOWS HIS VULNERABILITIES ON EVERY SONG AND HE SINGS. JEFF HAS A VOICE THAT MATCHES HIS MUSIC STYLE AND IS RICHLY SMOOTH AND A REAL HEART FELT APPROACH WITH EVERY SONG. “MELODY” WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MASTER OF A SONG WHERE JEFF SINGS FROM HIS HEART AND IT REALLY COMES ACROSS ON THIS AND THE WHOLE ALBUM. TO ME,  JEFF SINGS LIKE IF I PUT MY POETRY TO MUSIC, BUT JEFF IS AMUCH BETTER POET THAN I. “I WILL WAIT FOR YOU” THE SONG JUST HAS A GREAT RHYTHM THAT KEEPS THE BEAT AND MOMENTUM GOING THROUGH IT AND THIS ALBUM IS JUST  A PLUS, WHICH IS SUPERB IN MY OPINION. WITH THE ADDED FLARE OF HARMONICA KEEPS THE SONG ALIVE, &  ALONG WITH JEFFS VERY THROUGHFUL LYRICS. “JUST LIKE TEQUILLA” JEFF BRINGS YOU IN WITH HIM ON A VISIT TO THE LATIN SIDE AND INVITES YOU TO HAVE A TEQUILLA WITH HIM, AND WITH THE FLARE OF THE LATIN BEAT AND THE CONSTANT MUSICAL PERSUSIAN IN HIS MUSIC JUST MAKES YOU TASTE THE TEQUILLA AS YOU LISTEN. THROUGH OUT THIS MARVELOUS AND WELL PLAYED ALBUM JEFF HAS AN HONEST APPROACH AND A GREAT STORY IN HIS REALLY GOOD LYRICAL CONTENT AND COUPLED WITH HIS CAREFUL USE OF MUSICAL ACCENTS THROUGHOUT IT JUST REALLY MAKES SENSE, THIS IS VERY EVIDENT ON THE SONG “SAME OLD MOON”. WHERE JEFF SPEAKS FROM HIS HEART. THE NEXT SONG CALLED “MAKE UP YOUR MIND” JEFF MAKES A SONG FUN AND ENJOYABLE AND REMAINS A GOOD STORY TELLER KIND OF MUISCIAN. JEFFS CONSISTENT USE OF GREAT MUSIC, AND MIXED WITH HIS WORDS PUT TO SONG ADDED TOGEHTER MAKE WHAT JEFF IS A MELODIC LOVE SINGER/ SONGWRITER THAT HAS A SMOOTH SOUND AND IS A VERY ENJOYABLE ALBUM. “LETTING GO” THE NEXT SONG THAT JEFF SINGS AND IS A LOVE SONG BALLAD, WHERE AS I AM A SUCKER FOR LOVE SONGS AND BALLADS . WHERE JEFF IS THE MASTER OF THIS KIND OF SOUND AND THIS ALBUM HAS THIS CONTENT THROUGHOUT. JEFF BRISBIN & HIS ALBUM CALLED “FORVERLY’ WILL ALWAYS BE “FORVERLY” IMPRINTED IN MY MUSICAL PART OF MY BRAIN,  JEFF HAS SUBSTANCE AND MEANING TO HIS MUSIC AND WAS A MOST ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I AT THIS TIME WISH TO THANK JEFF FOR HIS TREMENDOUS GIFT OF SINGING AND SONGWRITING AND HIS FRIENDSHIP AND I KNOW I’LL BE HEARING ONE OF HIS SONGS NOT ONLY ON THE RADIO, BUT IN MY HEAD AS I SING ALONG WITH HIM.

“I’M FEELING THEM DELTA”BLUES

THE ONE GENRE OF MUSIC THAT I REALLY ENJOY WRITING IS THE MUSIC AND SOUND OF BLUES. WITH THIS BEING SAID AFTER LISTENING TO THE ALBUM CALLED “DELTA TIME” BY THE BLUES GUYS NAMED LIGHTIN’ ROD & THE  THUNDERBOLTS I WAS REALLY ENTERTAINED. THE FIRST SONG IS CALLED “DELTA TIME” AND ROD & HIS BAND REALLY DIG DEEP INTO THE SOUND OF REALLY DELTA SOUNDING BLUES. MY LISTENING EXPERIENCE WAS REALLY ENJOYABLE AND ROD REALLY HAS THE ABILITY TO SLING A GOOD BLUES LICK OR TWO. WITH THE NEXT SONG STARTING OUT HAS A FEEL OF A 60’S FEEL TO THE GUITAR WORKS THE SONG IS CALLED “ADDICTED TO SOMETHING” AND ROD HAS THAT SIGNITURE SOUND IN HIS VOCALS THAT IS ALMOST REMINICIENT OF A REAL THROATY SINGER BUT HIS GUITAR LICKS ARE REALLY EVIDENT ON THIS AND WITH THE USE OF BACKUP SINGERS ADDS THE ELEMENT OF FLAVORFUL BLUES. WITH THE NEXT SONG STARTING OUT CALLED “WHEN I LOVED YOU’ THIS SONG SEEMS TO SMOOTH OUT THE ROUGHNESS AND ADDS A LITTLE FLAVOR OF GOOD OLD GUITAR STRUMMING AND ROD & THE BAND ARE REALLY WELL AND MIX TOGETHER NICELY. “WHAT I DONE FORGOT” REALLY BRINGS IN THE BLUES MIX AND SOUNDS VERY CLASSY AND HAS THAT HEAD BOPPIN’ GUITAR WORKS AND ROD ONCE AGAIN ADD THAT SENSE OF GOOD OLD BLUES. “LOW DOWN FUNKY BLUES” IS A SONG THAT CONVEYS ALL THE INGREDIENTS OF A REALLY GOOD BLUES SONG AND ROD & THE THUNDERBOLTS SEEM TO REALLY JIVE TOGETHER AND IS QUITE ENJOYABLE AS I LISTENED. ROD & THUNDERBOLTS WHERE I HEARD THAT SIGNATURE SOUND OF DEEP BLUES WITH ROD AND HIS GUITAR THAT ALLOW YOU TO FEEL THE EMOTIONAL VALUE OF HIS STYLE OF BLUES AND WAS REALLY ENJOYABLE. “OUT OF THE DARKNESS” ROD & THE  THUNDERBOLTS ONCE AGAIN ADD THE BACKUP SINGERS TO THE MIX AND WITH THE GUITAR WORKS OF ROD AND HIS WONDERFUL BAND MAKE IT HAPPEN AND I REALLY WOULD LOVE TO SEE THESE GUYS AND GALS IN A CONCERT. AT TIMES I FELT THAT THIS BAND IS ONE OF THOSE BANDS THAT HAS TO BE SEEN IN A BAR ROOM OR A BLUES SHOW WITH A SMALL CROWD A COUPLE OF ADULT BEVERAGES AND ENJOYING THE MUSIC. “WHAT WAS I THINKING” ALMOST RINGS A LITTLE GUITAR WORK OF MUSIC ICON CARLOS SANTANA AND IS REALLY GOOD. ‘BROKEN WING” A KIND OF GATHERED THAT IS A DEDICATION TO THE LATE GUITARIST JIMI HENDRIX, WHERE ROD & THE THUNDERBOLTS DO A REALLY DOWN & GRINDY AND WEE SOUNDING GUITAR WHICH ROD ONCE AGAIN BRINGS THAT INCREDIBLE BLUES SOUND ALIVE AND THIS SONG PROBABLY ALLOWS YOU TO REALLY HEAR HIS TRUE TALENT IN THE GUITAR DEPARTMENT. THIS SONG IS ACTUALLY MY FAVORITE ON THE WHOLE ALBUM, BUT AFTER HEARING THIS ROD REALLY BRINGS IT HOME WITH THE NEXT SONG. THE SONG IS CALLED “WHEN LOVE COMES CALLING” THE THUNDERBOLTS ALONG WITH RODS FANCY GUITAR PICKIN MAKE THE GRADE ON THIS AND ADDS HIS ELEMENT OF BACKUP SINGERS.THE LAST SONG ON THIS RICHLY PURE BLUES ALBUM AND PHENOMENALLY PRODUCED. THE SOUND IS UNMATCHED WITH ROD & THE THUNDERBOLTS AND THEIR AWESOME BLUES SONGS . THE SONG IS CALLED “LIFE OF A BLUESMAN’ AND ROD AND THE BAND GEL TOGETHER VERY WELL AND ADD THAT SPE CIAL FEEL TO THE ALBUM AND ALL IN ALL I REALLY ENJOYED THE SPIN OF THIS ALBUM AND I LOOK FORWARDS TO HEARING MORE FROM LIGHNIN’ ROD & THE THUNDERBOLTS AND PERHAPS I’LL CATCH ONE OF THEIR CONCERTS AND THAT WILL BE A REALLY ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE AND ONE I CAN HOPE FOR. THANK YOU TO ROD WILSON FOR THE INVITATION TO BE ABLER TO HEAR HIS WONDERFUL SOUND AND HOPE TO HEAR HIM ON THE RADIO SOON OR MAYBE IN CONCERT.

” FULL THROTTLE FROM START TO END”

“HEATWAVE” THIS IS HOW TO DESCRIBE THE ALBUM FROM SINGER AND GUITARIST LOU DIBELLO, AND QUITE HONESTLY WHAT A ROCK & ROLL RECORD IT IS. WITH THE 1ST SONG ON THE ALBUM CALLED “HEATWAVE” LOU SLAMS, BAMS AND CRASHES INTO YOUR SPEAKERS LOUD & CLEAR. WITH  HONESTLY QUITE AWESOME AND EXTROARDINAIRELY POWERFUL STRUMMING ALL AROUND I WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DAYS OF HEAVY METAL 80’S BUT WITH TREMENDOUSLY LOUD AND CLEAR GUITAR WORKS. “LET ME HEAR YOU SCREAM” ROCK & ROLL” ANOTHER POWERFULLY CHARGED SONG WHERE LOU JUST SLAMS YOUR EARS INTO THE SPEAKERS WITH NO REMORSE IN SIGHT. “BLOOD ON THE CROSS” LOU CONTINUES HIS REBELLIOUS ROCK AND ROLL RTHYHM AND HAS NO END IN SIGHT. AT TIMES LISTENING TO THIS ALBUM I WAS REMINDED OF AN ALMOST THE LATE RONNIE JAMES DIO SOUND. A LITTLE REMINICIENT AT TIMES, BUT AGAIN LOU ADDS HIS OWN TOUCH OF WOOP ASS ON HIS STRUMMING ABILITY ON THE SONG “THE MEETING” WHERE LOU HOLDS NO PRISONERS AND NEVER LETS GO. THE GUITARS ARE SHREDDING AWAY AND LOU PACKS A POWERFUL PUNCH IN HIS MUSIC THROUGHOUT. WITH THE NEXT SONG STARTING OUT LOU RIPS AND SHREDS AND KICKS YOU IN THE FACE WITH HIS RAW AND DOWNRIGHT AWESOME GUITAR WORKS THROUGHOUT. I WAS THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED AS I SAT AT MY STUSIO DEASK LISTENING TO THIS WONDERFUL AND POWERFUL ALBUM. AS THE NEXT SONG STARTED LOU SHOWS HIS MATERFUL SIDE OF GUITAR WORKS WHERE THEY SEEM TO NEVER END & LOU REALLY KICKS SOME MAJOR ASS IN HIS TREMENDOUS GUITAR WORKS THROUGHOUT. I AM NOT PARTICULAR KNOWLEDGEABLE OF THE HEAVY METAL SCENE BUT AS I LISTENED LOU GAVE ALL THE LESSONS I NEEDED TO RE EDUCATE MYSELF IN HIS AWESOME ABILITY TO TAKE THE MUSIC TO A NEW HEIGHT. THIS ALBUM IN IT’S ENTIRETY IS ONE KICK ASS ALBUM AND LOU HOLDS NO BARS ON EVERY SONG, AND KEEPS THE ACCELERATOR ON AT FULL SPEED ALL THE WAY THROUGH. “DROP DEADLY” IS JUST A SUMMARY OF WHAT I HAVE BEEN HEARING SINCE THE FIRST SONG ON THIS POWERFULLY CHARGED AND FULL ROCKETS RED GLARE APPROACH. IT IS ALWAYS A REAL PLEASURE TO HEAR A MUSICIAN THAT CAN MAINTAIN A CONSISTENT THEME THROUGHOUT THEIR ALBUM AND BOY HOWDY, LOU DOES THIS WITH EVERY SONG ON THIS SUPERCHARGED ALBUM THIS WHICH BRINGS IN ALL ELEMEMTS OF A SOLID ROCK ALBUM AND IF YOU HAVE THE NEED FOR SUPERCHARGED AND FULL THROTTLE MUSIC THIS ALBUM IS FOR YOU. “WHEN ALL IS LOST” THE INTRO TO THE SONG IS ABOUT THE ONLY SLOW DOWN POINT IN THE ALBUMS ENTIRETY. LOU CONTINUES TO KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF, AND REMAINS IN YOUR FACE AND EARS WITH HIS POWERFUL ABILITIES TO SING A SONG AND PLAY THE GUITAR AND REALLY REALLY RIP INTO SHREDS, THAT IS RIP THE GUITAR STRINGS INTO SHREDS, AND PERHAPS YOUR EARDRUMS AS WELL. WITH THE LAST SONG ON THE ALBUM A MICHAEL SCHENKER SONG CALLED “INTO THE ARENA” THIS KIND OF SUMS UP THIS ALBUMS THEME, WHERE LOU BRINGS YOU “INTO THE ARENA” AND KEEPS YOUR EARS IMPRISONED AND WON’T RELEASE UNTIL HE’S READY TO LET YOU. THIS IS A PHENOMENALLY GEAR DRIVEN, AND GUITAR SLAMMING ALBUM PACKED FULL OF FULL THROTTLE ALL THE WAY THROUGH FROM START TO FINISH, AS WHEN THE ALBUM DID END I FELT MYSELF WANTING TO GO LIGHT UP A CIGARETTE AND SOAK IN THE ECTASY OF THIS LOUD AND GUITAR DRIVEN MIRACULOUS ALBUM. I THANK LOU FOR ALLOWING ME LEGALLY TO HAVE MY EARS BENT TO THE POINT OF BLEEDING, WITH HIS WONDERFUL AND SUPERCHARED AND GUITAR DRIVEN ALBUM CALLED” HEATWAVE”.

” TRULY AMAZING PICKING”

AS I SAT HERE AND BEGAN TO WRITE THIS MUSIC REVIEW I THOUGHT TO MYSELF, IT’S BEEN A LONG YEAR AND I AM REMINDED HOW LUCKY I AM TO DO WHAT I LOVE WHICH IS WRITE MUSIC REVIEWS. WELL ENOUGH OF ME. THIS GUY THAT I AM WRITING ABOUT IS A BLUEGRASS MIXED WITH A LITTLE FLARE OF COUNTRY MIX TO IT. THE MUSIC ARTIST THAT I AM WRITING THIS REVIEW ON, HIS NAME IS  SHANNON SLAUGHTER AND HIS ALBUM IS CALLED “NEVER STANDING STILL” THE 1ST SONG IS CALLED  “YOU CAN’T OUTRUN THE RIVER”  AND SHANNON PICKS HIS WAY THROUGH AND REALLY STRUTS HIS STUFF. AND IS A TRUE BLUEGRASS NATURAL AND THIS SONG IS A FINE EXAMPLE OF HIS INATE ABILITIES. AS THE ALBUM ROLLS ON THE NEXT TRACK CALLED ‘FIND YOUR OWN HIGHWAY” AND SHANNON CONTINUES HIS STRUMMING AWAY AND NEVER MISSES A BEAT. IT SEEMS THAT WHEN SHANNON SINGS THIS SONG HE SEEMS TO BE SPEAKING WITH HIS KIDS AND TEACHING THE LESSONS OF LIFE, WHERE YOU GOTTA FIND YOUR OWN HIGHWAY, AND CONTINUES TO REINFORCE THAT THROUGHOUT THE SONG. IF YOU ARE INTO A LOT OF PICKIN’ MUSIC, THIS ALBUM IS FOR YOU, WHERE SHANNON AND HIS PHENOMENAL BAND JUST SLAM UP THE JAMS ONE AFTER ANOTHER. THE NEXT SONG ON THIS WONDERFULLY SOUNDING AND TRULY GREAT ALBUM SHANNON & AND THE BAND DON’T MISS A BEAT THE MIUSIC IS FUN AND GETS THE OLD FOOT STOMPIN’ AWAY. THE SONG CALLED “THAT OLD COUNTRY ROAD” SHANNON JUST NAILS IT AND I REALLY FELT THE PURETY AND EMOTIONAL VALUE THAT SHHANON & HIS WNDERFUL AND FULLFILLING BAND BRING TO EACH SONGON THIS ALBUM. “LOVE IS A CROSS AND THREE NAILS” SHANNON REALLY BRINGS IN HIS SPIRIRUAL SIDE WITHIN HIS STRONG AND DIRECT LYRICS. THIS SONG IS A REALLY GRAT SONG AND THE BAND IS REALLY SUPERB, THIS PROBABLY IS MY FAVORITE ON THE ALBUM. WITH THIS BEING SAID THE NEXT SONG CALLED “THIS GIRL I LOVE” AND SHANNON REALLY HAS THE ABILITY TO MAKE YOU FEEL HIS EMOTION THROUGH HIS TREMENDOUS VOCALS AND THE BAND BACKING JUST ARE A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN AND REALLY IS ENJOYABLE. “GOING HOME” IS REALLY SONG THAT FOCUSSES ON HIS EMOTIONAL VALUE AND ALLOWS HIM TO VULNERABLE AND REAL & EXPRESSES THIS IN A SUPERB WAY ON THIS SONG AND OTHERS. “LONELY TRAIL OF TEARS” IS A SUPERB EXAMPLE OF HOW SHANNON REALLY SHOWCASES HIS TRUE AND SINCERE CRAFT OF PICKIN AWAY AND MAKES THE MUISC COME ALIVE. THE NEXT SONG CALLED ‘BETTER MOVE IT  HOME” WHERE IT HAS A SOUND OF REMINICENT 60’S FLAVOR BUT REMAINS VERY RELEVANT FOR TODAYS STYLE AND KEPT MY EARS TUNED IN FOR MORE. “HE MOVED A MOUNTAIN ANOTHER FINE EXAMPLLE OF  SPIRITUAL &SUPERB STRUMMING ON EACH SONGHROUGHOUT. “DYING TO LIVE AGAIN” SHANNON JUST SIMPLY PUT AMAZES ME WITH HIS CONTINUAL STRONG AND VIBRANT BANJO AND MAGNIFICIENT HARMONIE STHROUGHOUT. THIS SONG IS REALLY A TREMEDOUS EXAMPLE OF A TRUE LOVE SONG AT IT’S FINEST AND WAS TRULY ENJOYED BY ME, AND WHEN YOU HEAR THIS YOU WILL TO. I WAS A FARMER SHANNON NEVER STOPS AMZINGF ME WITH HIS CONTINUAL LYRICS AND HIS AWESOME GIFT OF VOCALS AND ALL THE WHILE HIS BAND JUST ADDS IN THEIR FINE TOUCHES ON EVERY TRACK .”TRYING TO BE MY OWN MAN” JUST ADDS TO THE EXCITEMENT AND LOVE AND THE PURE TALENT THAT SHANNON SLAUGHTER AND HIS PHENOMENALLY CRAFTED & GIFTED BAND REALLY ARE AN ENJOYABLE SOUND THAT MADE MY LISTENING EXPERIENCE A TREMENDOUS AND A TOTALLY SATISFYING TASTE OF TRUE BLUEGRASS AT IT’S FINEST.

HONOR, LOVE, RESPECT A DREAM COME TRUE.

I must start to say that starting off the new year 2018 for myself has been an incredible dream come true. I ask myself and actually have to pinch myself. Most recently I was given the chance of my lifetime to speak with a true American music legend. A very close friend and a very talented musician herself that I have written a music album review for made this happen and I am forever indebted to her and really have a tremendous admiration for her and her incredible musical talent and I treasure her friendship forever. Once gain my dreams of a lifetime has been made this last week I had the real pleasure and incredible honor to have a conversation with an American music legend, have I got your attention? ears perked up yet? The legend I am speaking to you of is a gentleman and a most gracious guy I’ve ever met in my lifetime. I am speaking of Alvin Taylor, he has been in an instrumental part of music history, in the way that he has performed for an amazing and abundant number of true major music artists that are my heroes in the business. Born on March 26th, 1953 Alvin Taylor since his tender age of 5 has been a lover of drums. His lifetime music career began when he was only 14 years old, now, you do the math. In this conversation I learned from Alvin that Since he has 14 he had a music experience, that got him on the musical roadmap, he began touring with Little Richard, & on his album “King Of Rock & Roll” After this stint of musical experience Alvin joined a band called Pacific, Gas & Electric. Alvin in our wonderfully exciting and intriguing conversation Alvin mentioned that the music legend (AKA) known as the 5th Beatle Billy Preston was very instrumental in his introduction to the many legends he has played with. His most amazing experience of his life came to him while he was invited to London by music legend George Harrison of the Beatles fame and ended up recording & performing on his platinum album 33  1/3.  His extensive career continued to amaze me as I was listening with every breath as Alvin told me of these incredible stories of music history. His credit history also includes tours with legendary musicians such as Elton John, Tina Turner Bob Dylan, Bob Welch, Leo Sayer, and Ronnie Woods of the Rolling Stones and the list goes on & on. Simply amazing, and what is so amazing about this here I was speaking with this incredible music legend, …me. Alvin has amazing  glossary of stories to tell I honestly could write a book based only on his life’s musical journey. As we talked Alvin told me of  his incredible music and I was simply and still am simply amazed at that here I was sitting in my studio and talking with a music legend. Since I started this interview with the intentions to write a music album review of him but better than this. I was being told of all these fine musicians that he has played with and quite honestly all my favorite musicians. As we some what wrapped up the conversation I always ask if there is anything I can do for them, Alvin proceeded to advise me that a while back he was provided  a “Go Fund Me” account to assist him with getting a star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars where he has been trying to raise funds to fundraise for his Star on the Walk of Fame. He advised me that it costs him $10,000.00 to get this to happen, and he has raised about $7000.00 of the  $10,000.00 needed to make it happen. In my opinion I’d love to see this happen since February is the deadline to get the funds. Also simply because Alvin is such a gracious and awesome person and an American music legend that is very deserving of this. I thank him for his incredible conversation with me and his incredible friendship & his total devotion and dedicated lifelong talents to some of the all time music legends and provided me to the soundtrack to most of my own life. I thank Alvin from the bottom of my heart and what a treasure to have in my heart forever. I was advised by Alvin that when he meets someone and makes friends, he makes friends for life, and that is such a pure joy in my heart that I will always have in my heart and never let go. Thank you Alvin for your gift of time and your incredible gift of musical contributions  and to our new friendship and May God always enrich your life with peace, and love forever. In my opinion and to quote the singer/ songwriter Jackie DeShannon “What The World Needs Now Is Love” and to quote and answer one of my many heroes in music the late John Lennon “Give Peace A Chance” and Alvin Taylor has reinforced both of these thoughts in my life. Thank you so much Alvin and May God always bless you in your tremendous life.

“POLISHED TO PERFECTION”

After writing several music album reviews, and all music genres I really enjoy the diversity, and with this being said With my latest review of a blues group called “The Lucky Losers” and their latest release called “In Any Town” where lead singers Cathy Lemons and Phil Berkowitz and the ensemble of fine musicians. They have a superbly fine and polished sound that is really quite honestly great. I have been a huge fan of blues music most of my life and these cats really make my musical taste buds come alive. With the 1st track called “So high” Cathy’s vocals are superb and really make that sound and the lyrical content is really well. It’s rather difficult to find a blues band that actually write their own songs. The 2nd song on this marvelous and really catchy flavorful album is called “It Ain’t Enough” Where Cathy and band really get down to the blues and Cathy really showcases her style and her rich full clear vocals and with Phil on harmonica and the band members Marvin Greene, Chris Burns, Tim Wagar, & Robi Bean they make the sounds that are really real blues and smooth as a diamond. The next song on the album is a remake of Johnny Cash’s song “Jackson” where I am not one for remakes, however the song makes the recollections of Johnny float through your musical memory and Cathy & Phil put their own twist on it. “Don’t Let ’em See ya cry” Cathy’s vocal range is superb and dialed into perfection levels. The next song called “Blind Man In the Dark” the band brings in the real smoothly & refined sound & really brings in the full sound of the band and is my personal favorite on the album. On This song the sax is just amazing which features Terry Hanck where he serves up his solo on this song & adds tremendous balance and smoothness to the already awesome sound. “I Can’t Change Ya” the next track is a harp driven song and between Cathy & Phil they are a really match made in heaven. With the next song starting called “Still Enough to Cry’ brings in the R&B sounds and Phil really showcases his vocals on this one and adds the element of real sounding rhythm & blues and makes the sound fun & really enjoyable. “Give Me A Sign” well this really has a true sense of the definition of blues all over it & Cathy’s vocals are splendid & superb and actually sultry and one of the many songs on this superb album that I really personally like. The Harp from Phil adds even more flavor to the song. “In Any Town’ is really good song and I really loved the total arrangement of the song where Cathy brings in her low and smoothly crafted vocals to the front and really prove that this band is really a contender in the blues scene. The next song called “Devil’s Dream” the element of psychedelic rock came into effect with Phil’s vocals and the band had that magical presence of the 60’s flare and darkness but blended in nicely to the rest of the mix. ‘Small Town Talk’ the last track on this superb and really enjoyable album allows your ears to really hear the dynamic sound of the band and allows your ears to soak in what kind of music that is being presented to you and adds a personal touch to who “The Lucky Losers” really are. My Many thanks to Cathy Lemons & Phil Berkowitz and the phenomenally good band. I really appreciate them for sharing their finely tuned craft with me & wishing to hear more from a well oiled music group like them.
